Fat People Doing Stuff is a celebration of fat joy, fat brilliance, and fat resilience. At its heart, this project is a series of micro-documentary films that spotlight the awesome things fat people do every day—in their work, hobbies, interests, skills, and beyond.
In a world where fat bodies are often reduced to stereotypes or dehumanized depictions in the media—like the infamous "headless fatties" of the "obesity epidemic" narrative—Fat People Doing Stuff aims to flip the script. We’re here to amplify the voices and stories of fat folks, not as a counterargument to societal bias, but as a joyful assertion of truth. Fat people are awesome.
Down the line, the project will expand into photo essays, video interviews, and maybe even a podcast—all centered around the beautiful lives and experiences of fat people. We’re building a community that celebrates people's stories and invites others to see the world through a lens of joy and inclusion.
Want to get involved? Know someone whose story should be shared? Applications are open for individuals who want to showcase their lives or nominate someone they admire. Together, we’ll challenge misconceptions, uplift voices, and prove what we’ve known all along: fat people are doing cool stuff every single day.
